there are minor differences between shakespears sonnet and spencers sonnet. i found shakespears sonnet to be a little bit more jumpy than spencers and i didnt care for that much. i liked spencers setup better because since it didnt jump around it was easier for me to read. not to mention i understood it better because of that.
shakespears sonnet
In the first section hes asking if he should compare someone or you to a summers day and then he relizes maybe he shouldnt because summer days can be harsh with may winds. he also relizes it might not be a good idea because summer days are way to short. in the second section he is saying sometimes the sun shines to bright and that even beauty fades away because of age. and that its just nature to grow old. in the third section he takes a differnt route or perspective on the subject. he tells the subject that his their beauty is eternal and will never fade dispite the amount of time. in the fourth section he says they will never loose their beauty and death shall not take their beauty either. in the last section he says so long as there is life and people and the world has not come to an end then they shall keep their beauty forever and so long as it lives it will give life to others
Edmund spencer
in the first section he is talking about how oposite of love he is. pretty much how he cant understand love and its mysterious to him. he talks about how different this woman is from him. the more attention he gives the harder to get she gets. in the second section he talks about no matter how hard he tries he still cant seem to pull her in. he says its much easier to atract his own kind . in the third section he talks about even though their opposite of eachother they have finally come together after a long time. in the fourth section he is summing it up by saying that love is so strong that it could even bring people together that were so oposite of eachother.
shakespears sonnet
LX
Like as the waves make towards the pebbled shore,-A
So do our minutes hasten to their end,-B
Each changing place with that which goes before-A
In sequent toil all forwards do contend. -B
Nativity, once in the main of light, -C
Crawls to maturity, wherewith, being crowned,-D
Crooked eclipses 'gainst his glory fight -C
And Time that gave, doth now his gift confound.-D
Time doth transfix the flourish set on youth, -E
And delves the parallels in beauty's brow, -F
Feeds on the rarities of natures truth, -E
And nothing stands but for his scythe to mow; -F
And yet, to times, in hope, my verse shall stand, -G
Praising thy worth, despite his cruel hand. G
in the first section he relates waves crashing on a pebbled shore to the extent of our lives here on earth. also how when those waves fall on the shore thats the end of the journey for them and how that relates to when we come to an end. its almost like when we are born were already starting to die. in the second section he talks about how the subject grew up and became crowned and then how he later died of old age. in the third section he talks about how time takes your youth away from you. its the ways of nature as time takes hold that everyone grows to be old. in the final section he talks about how much he would love to be eternal that he nows that time will take its toll its just a matter of time.
spencers sonnet

Our love shall live, and later life renew." -G
in the first section he talks about how he writes the girls name in the sand and that he is so lonely and mad at the world or the worlds mad at him because the tide keeps washing away the name in the sand. in the second section the girl gets pissy because she thinks its not a mortal thing to think of immortality. in the third section he talks about how she will life forever with beauty. in the fourth section he talks about how they will live forever together.
my own little love sick sonnet
what gets me through today?
is it knowing true love?
that i cannot say
i fear its soaring up above
i messed up and off she went
when can i let her go?
a message she has not sent
i can't seem to do it, no no no
i have unraveled myself enough lately
god knows when i'll find true love again
wow, what beauty walks so gently
there she goes, i just hope its not a sin
today i sit alone and wait
for my new true love is walking through that gate
