RESTORATION

when james the second took over ( who was a practicing roman catholic) most english people were not impressed and were more opposed to the situation. people were afraid that he was going to hand over england to the pope and people thought that the catholics were behind the great fire of london as well. after the birth of jamesII daughter him and his family fled to france.

i think this was an important time in literature historty and its the point in time when satire was first introduced. i depicted turnabout for england and the rest o great britain. the most important part of thr restoration period was when people stopped questioning god why things were happening and they started turning to science for answers

satire is a type of writing or acting where there is a subject thats either a single peron or group of people who are being made fun of by an impersonater. some examples of satire would be the television show saturday night live, married with children, family guy

i thought this satire to be sickening. it made me a bit weary in the stomach and i was suprissed about how much detail he went into. this is a type of satire. he was trying to be graphic to catch the audiencecs attention. he was talking about how the irish goverment is so cruel and only thinks about the rich that they might as well eat the poor children and that would take care of all the problems.

i read the diary of samuel pepys and he seems like a lazy party goer. all he wants to do is celebrate the new king. he talks about the great fire of london for the most part. it was kind of neat because i know where some of those streets are personally in london so it was cool to relate. another part that i thought was interesing along with funny is when he was talking about being hung over after a long night of drinking and then when he wakes up he goes and gets himself another draft (beer)

i think the most important thing to people in this time was wealth and distractions. first of all money seemed like a big deal, it was almost like the more monet you had the more respected you were and i dont beleive thats right. i also said distractions to because while the rich were enjoying a nice meal, picnic or party the poor were still begging on the streets. the rich almost acted like the poor never even existed so i think that the rich did things like party to distract themselves from what was really affecting them and the city or enviroment and its funny how people still do that today.
